NOTES

12th Fishing Report

Cramer Park Beach - St. Croix, VI

As the spring season unfolds, freshwater lakes and rivers present an enticing array of opportunities for anglers. Bass fishing enthusiasts can rejoice as the spawn approaches, with pre-spawn and spawning bass becoming increasingly active. Shallow areas adorned with vegetation and structure are prime spots, where techniques like flipping jigs and soft plastic worms prove effective.

Trout fishing maintains its allure, with rivers and streams benefiting from spring runoff, ensuring favorable water levels. Fly anglers find success with nymphs and dry flies during the early morning and late afternoon hours, while bait anglers favor worms, salmon eggs, or small spinners.

Panfish action is on the rise, particularly for crappie and bluegill, congregating around submerged structures and weed beds. Light tackle and finesse techniques, such as using small jigs or live bait under floats, yield fruitful catches.

In saltwater realms, inshore waters teem with activity as baitfish populations surge, attracting redfish, speckled trout, and flounder to marsh edges, flats, and oyster beds. Live bait, soft plastics, and topwater lures are effective tools for enticing these coveted species.
