BS Course Dog Sledding Adventure

Picture yourself gripping the handlebars of a sled while a team of eager huskies pulls you through pristine winter wilderness. Our BS Course offers an authentic mushing experience that gets you hands-on with these amazing athletes. This isn't some tourist trap where you sit back and get pulled around - you'll learn to command your own team and feel the raw power of dogs bred for this exact purpose. With space for just one guest, you get personalized attention from our experienced mushers who've been running dogs for years. Whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to sharpen your mushing skills, this course gives you the real deal without any fluff.

What You'll Experience

Right from the start, you'll be working directly with our dog teams. These aren't pets - they're working athletes who live for the trail. You'll meet each dog, learn their personalities, and understand how they fit into the team dynamic. Some are natural leaders who know every command, while others are pure power machines built for pulling. Our mushers will show you how to harness each dog properly and explain the pecking order that makes everything work smoothly. The course covers basic voice commands like "hike" to get moving, "gee" and "haw" for turns, and the all-important "whoa" for stopping. You'll practice these commands while the dogs are itching to run - and trust me, they know when it's go time. The energy is contagious and you'll quickly understand why people get hooked on this sport. We keep the group size to one person so you get maximum time actually mushing instead of standing around watching others take turns.

Mushing Basics & Trail Tips

Dog sledding looks simple until you're actually doing it. The sled itself has a brake bar you'll use constantly - these dogs can hit 15-20 mph easy, and controlling speed is crucial for everyone's safety. You'll learn to read the trail ahead and anticipate when to slow down or give the team their head on straight stretches. The dogs respond to your voice and body language more than you'd expect. A confident musher keeps the team focused, while hesitation travels right down the gangline to the dogs. We'll teach you proper stance - knees slightly bent, weight balanced, and always ready to help the team by kicking or running alongside the sled when needed. The brake isn't just for stopping - it's your main tool for controlling pace and helping the dogs navigate turns smoothly. Trail conditions change everything too. Fresh powder means the dogs work harder, while packed trails let them really fly. You'll learn to read what the lead dogs are telling you about the trail ahead and adjust accordingly.

Target Species

While dog sledding doesn't target wildlife in the traditional hunting or fishing sense, you'll encounter the true stars of the sport - our sled dogs. Alaskan Huskies make up the backbone of most competitive teams and ours too. These aren't the fluffy huskies you see in movies - they're lean, long-legged athletes that can run for hours without breaking stride. Each dog typically weighs 45-60 pounds and can pull 1.5 times their body weight easily. They peak during winter months when temperatures drop and their thick coats provide perfect insulation. What makes them special is their incredible drive to run and work as a team. Unlike other dog breeds bred for specific tasks, these huskies live for the moment when they hear "let's go hook up dogs" because they know it means trail time. You'll also meet some Siberian Huskies in our kennel - slightly stockier with those piercing blue eyes that photograph so well. They're incredibly social and love meeting new people, making them perfect for first-time mushers who might be nervous around working dogs. The intelligence of these animals will blow you away as they navigate trails, respond to commands, and work together like a well-oiled machine.

Book Your Mushing Adventure

This BS Course gives you authentic mushing skills without the intimidation factor of larger group experiences. You'll walk away understanding why people dedicate their lives to this sport and these amazing dogs. The one-on-one attention means you actually learn proper techniques instead of just getting a ride. Our mushers have decades of combined experience and genuinely love sharing their knowledge with newcomers to the sport. Don't expect to show up and immediately be mushing solo - safety comes first and these dogs deserve handlers who know what they're doing. But by the end of the course, you'll have real skills and confidence to handle a team. The dogs will have taught you as much as our human instructors, and you'll understand the special bond between musher and team that makes this sport so addictive. Ready to find out what you're made of? These dogs are already excited to meet you and show you what real teamwork looks like on the trail.
